Sagun Group, a leading Turkish seafood exporter, and BioMar, a Danish fish feed producer, have established a fish feed factory in Söke, Aydın, with an investment of 20 million euros. The factory, Türkiye’s first facility to produce high-performance fish feed, will provide employment for 150 people when operating at full capacity. The facility aims to achieve 25 million euros in exports to the Middle East and regional countries within three years.
A SIGN OF CONFIDENCE IN Türkiye
Sagun Group Vice Chairman Oğulcan Sagun said, “Many raw materials, technologies, and production methods will be brought to Türkiye with the knowledge and experience of our Danish partner. Our facility will make a difference with improvements in fish growth rate and health in farms.” The facility, which started production in Söke Organized Industrial Zone, will supply locally produced growth feeds for trout, sea bream, and sea bass. The opening of the factory was attended by Sagun Group Chairman Ahmet Tuncay Sagun, Sagun Group Vice Chairman Oğulcan Sagun, BioMar Group executives, Minister of Development Lütfi Elvan, TİM President Mehmet Büyükekşi, Aydın Governor Ömer Faruk, and numerous representatives from the business world. Minister Lütfi Elvan said that this investment is a sign of foreign capital’s confidence in Türkiye. TİM President Mehmet Büyükekşi emphasized that the sector’s production volume tripled and its exports quadrupled between 2003 and 2015.
